Wildflower (Cynodon dactylon) is the well-known hardy grass that grows in fields, gardens and roadsides.

Its rhizome, dried and chopped, is traditionally used for a hot infusion.

It has a mild, slightly sweet taste and is drunk neat or with a little honey.

Boil 1 tablespoon of rhizome in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes.

Strain and serve hot, plain or with a little honey.

The wild horsetail (Cynodon dactylon) is a plant often found in lawns and fields. Its dried rhizome is traditionally used for a decoction.

Boil 1 tablespoon of rhizome in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain and add honey if desired.

The Bermuda variety (Cynodon dactylon) is indeed used for lawns, however, the rhizome of wild thyme for beverage is a separate, purified product.
