Frequent questions
What is popcorn corn?
It is a special variety of corn with a high moisture content and a hard outer shell, which bursts when heated.
Is popcorn fattening?
Not necessarily. It's low in calories and fat on its own. It only becomes fattening if you add too much butter, sugar, or oil.
Does corn have gluten?
No. Corn is naturally gluten-free and suitable for people with intolerances.
What does corn help with?
It provides energy, is easily digestible and contributes to good intestinal function due to its fiber content.
Can I make popcorn in an air fryer?
Yes, all you need to do is preheat the device and use a metal container with a lid or a special accessory.
Instructions for use
To make homemade popcorn with popcorn kernels, you can choose between several methods, depending on your device and preferences.
In a pot
Heat a small amount of oil (e.g. corn oil or sunflower oil) in a non-stick pot with a lid. Add the corn, cover and leave over medium heat until most of the kernels have popped. Remove once the “pop” sound has subsided.
In the air fryer
Preheat the appliance and place the popcorn in a metal bowl or special container with a lid, placed in the air fryer basket. Set to 200°C for approximately 8 – 10 minutes. Alternatively, use special bags for air fryer popcorn, if available.
In the microwave
Place 2–3 tablespoons of corn in a microwave-safe bag or glass bowl with a lid. Microwave on high for 2–4 minutes, until the popping sound stops.
Extra flavor
After preparing the popcorn, you can add melted butter, salt, paprika, sugar or caramel, depending on the flavor you desire. For a healthier version, opt for olive oil or no fat at all.
