In Greece, we use the species of Filira to make the well-known drink tilio or flamouri. In some areas, this herb is also referred to as maple, and has been used for centuries as a tea with healing properties and minimal side effects. Properties

Telium is known for its many beneficial properties. It is a powerful antispasmodic, offering relief from headaches, colds, coughs and runny noses. It also helps reduce migraines and nervous vomiting. It has diaphoretic properties and acts as a mild antipyretic. In addition, it is a diuretic, helping to dissolve uric acid, and is used to treat arthritic problems, rheumatism and gout. Linden also works against dropsy, cystitis, constipation and indigestion, and is thought to help dissolve kidney stones. In external use, linden decoction can be used to smooth wrinkles and freckles on the face, as well as to stimulate hair and enhance its growth. Finally, bathing with linden decoction helps relieve children's spasms and combat fatigue.
